The latest audio post is an interview with Crystal and her amazing story of cancer.
I met an amazing woman a couple of weeks ago. She was raised by a single mom. She was one of 9 hildren and her dad was an Alcoholic and he passed away . So her mom was left to raise all the kids by herself. She told me it was tough and they were on welfare, but her comment that really grabbed my attention was that withthis recession, she has not felt the impact because she knows how to live simple. She is looking into urban gardening and even getting chickens. She says now that all the kids are raised her mom has found her niche as a public speaker and is making a living doing it.
I have been at a workshop for the past two days. I sat at a table with two other women only to discover they too are single moms. I loved the story one mom told us about sharing a home with her ex. Because of their work schedules they were rarely at the house at the same time so they were both there for their daughter. I loved what she said, it is all about our daughter and we will do what we can to support her. I love to hear stories where both parents can find a way to work together for the benefit of the child. Thanks for sharing Janice.
I feel such ambivilance today, I am so very happy my son is graduating. He is the last one out of the nest. I am so very sad that my time of raising children is over. As a single mom so much of my energy was focused on raising my kids, because i had to do it all. And now it is over and i am sad, and yet because it is over i can put my energy towards my dream.
